From Farm to Pack: How Our Moringa Products Are Made

SWIIPD moringa leaf powder – from certified organic farms to pack

When you open a pouch of moringa powder, you deserve to know exactly where it came from and how it was made. So here's the whole journey, from the tree to your kitchen, with nothing hidden.

Where Our Moringa Comes From

We source our moringa from certified organic farms in two regions of Tamil Nadu: the fertile delta belt of southern Tamil Nadu and the Chengalpattu region. Moringa thrives in the warm climate and rich soil here, which is why murungai has been a staple of Tamil kitchens for generations.

Certified organic growers cultivate without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilisers. Sourcing from two regions also keeps a steady supply of fresh leaves through the year.

Step 1: Harvesting Fresh Leaves

Our partner farms pick tender, healthy leaves, which move quickly to processing so they stay fresh and green from the start.

Step 2: Cleaning and Sorting

The leaves are washed, stripped from the stems and hand-sorted. Yellow, damaged or old leaves are removed, so only the best go forward.

Step 3: Shade Drying

This is where quality is won or lost. The leaves are shade-dried, never baked in harsh sun or high heat.

The science backs this up: a 2025 study in Discovery Food compared shade, sun, oven and freeze drying, and found shade-dried moringa leaves kept more of their natural polyphenols and showed stronger antioxidant activity than sun-dried leaves (source). Shade drying is slower, but it's why our powder stays bright green with a fresh, grassy aroma.

Step 4: Clean Room Processing

The dried leaves are ground in a clean room facility, a controlled environment that keeps out dust, other products and outside impurities. Nothing is added: no fillers, colours or preservatives. Just 100% moringa leaf.

Step 5: 15+ Quality Checks

Every batch goes through more than 15 checks and tests based on standard quality markers for organic products, covering purity, freshness and safety.

Why so strict? The US National Institutes of Health notes that variation in processing and possible contamination are the main concerns with moringa products (source). Careful sourcing and testing is how we make sure every pouch is one you can trust.

Step 6: Packed Fresh

The powder is sealed in airtight packaging that keeps out moisture and air. Every pouch carries its batch details and our FSSAI licence number.

Why We Do It This Way

We could buy cheaper leaves, dry them faster and skip the tests. We choose not to. Certified organic sourcing, shade drying, clean room processing and careful testing take more time, but they're the only way to make moringa we'd happily serve our own families.
